I really love the idea of the Hunger theme as I do think that is really something that everyone can benefit from, no matter where they are in their walk of faith and in life. When we are hungry, we eat and are satisfied...until a few hours later when we are hungry again, and I do think that it can be the same with spiritual hunger.

That we come hungry to church, and that we need to expect to be satisfied and if we are expectant then we will be more open and willing  to experience the presence of God in our life. Being hungry and getting fed is not a once off thing that will happen on a Sunday night, it really is a continual and ongoing thing, we need to constantly be fed so that we can grow and I think that maybe we all at some point struggle with that, like we said last night, people expect “quick-fixes” to problems and hungers, and that is not always the case. I think people are hungry to experience God’s presence, I think a lot people perhaps even feel like Job did, as they are hungry but can’t seem to find Him(Job 23: 3-5) or somewhere around there), maybe we need to understand that being spiritually fed and experiencing God’s presence isn’t always going to be a “wow” moment during worship, or alter call but rather through small daily things, like reading the word and searching the heart of God, through fellowship and Christian friends, through small joys in nature like a rainbow or the moon, or a child’s laughter...things that bring us joy and and make us want to praise God for His grace and love .

And maybe we just need to be reminded that we need to constantly be seeking Him throughout each day, not only on a Sunday at church. Sure sometimes it seems easier to feel God’s presence at church, in a worshipful environment than say during the week when you are razzled and at work, but we need to hold onto the fact that God is always with us, even if we don’t always feel Him. Even on cloudy days we know the sun is there.
